16-year-old girl killed after shooting in Ensley; BPD holds news conference to address recent homicides
Jada White is Birmingham’s 9th homicide in 9 days
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - A 16-year-old girl was shot and killed early Wednesday morning in Ensley, another person was sent to the hospital.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified the teenager as Jada Mahogany White, of Birmingham. Police say White was a student at Jackson-Olin High School and is the 9th homicide in 9 days in Birmingham.
Birmingham Police and the Birmingham Fire and Rescue responded to 30th Street Ensley between Avenue E and F Birmingham around 2:30 a.m.
Police say White died at the scene. A male was at the scene, as well as another female with gunshot wounds, who was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to BPD, the three individuals go into a disagreement with another separate party. Police believe the other party is responsible for the shooting, but no one is currently in custody.
White was the second Jackson-Olin student to die by gunfire this week. Senior Caleb Whitt, 17, was killed March 26.
